In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys

The preview reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
