European Leaders Decry US Action as ‘Coercion’
Officials from Europe including the French president charged Washington of “bullying and threats”, following the visa restrictions targeted figures that were central to campaigns to enact laws regulating US-based technology firms.
“For too long, ideologues in Europe have spearheaded organised efforts to coerce US companies to suppress American viewpoints they oppose,” stated a senior US official in a social media post. “This government will no longer tolerate such actions of extraterritorial censorship.”
